Apple Logo Being Auctioned for $2000 – $3000

May 1, 2009 at 9:36 pm

I am very much impressed from Apple. I know Apple’s app store has made jobless people millionaires. I agree, Apple’s products are very popular, giving bucks of money to Steve Jobs. But I never thought that Apple’s logo will be auctioned for $2K – 3K.

Yes! O’ Gallerie is auctioning Andy Warhol’s (Silk Screen Color Print, New York, N.Y. 1928-1987) signed serigraph for a minimum of $2000!

The seigraph by Andy Warhole was commissioned by Del Yocam who was Apple’s First Chief Operating Officer. If you are more than an Apple Fanboy, then you can bid it here.

Don’t worry, not much people will participate, you will most probably win! ;)

Considering Andy Warhol was on stage at the press confrence announcing the Amiga, and was an active Amiga artist for a while, it is interesting that Apple felt the need to commission this from him.

Also, the logo is the standard Apple shape, but those colour bars are a direct ripoff of the Amiga logo, the "rainbow tick". Back when Apple really had penis envy for the Amiga, but claimed that no user could ever need multitasking, colour displays, animation, video, cross utility automation, multiple screens, and dozens of other "non features" that no one could ever want… until OSX.

Add an extra zero to both those numbers.
