World’s Smallest Wi-Fi Adapter?!

May 11, 2009 at 11:54 pm

In all of the current laptop models, wi-fi adapters come built-in. Some older models lack this functionality but usually external wi-fi adapters are connected to the laptops via PCMCIA cards which do not add to the volume of a laptop. Mvix however has launched world’s smallest wi-fi adapter. It is only 2cms long and connects to any USB 2.0 port. Though it supports 150 Mbps 802.11n connectivity, MIMO (for enhanced performance) and is very handsome, yet I fear if it is going to be a popular product!? Because no future laptop is assumed to lack the basic wi-fi functionality. It supports Windows, Mac and Linux and sells for $39 only. If you have an old laptop without a wi-fi adapter and you don’t want to use PCMCIA for some reason, then you may order it here.

Oh! you can also use it for your desktop computer if you don’t have a LAN :)

As you mentioned, you can use it for desktop pcs. I think their target audience is desktop users since you have to purchase wlan cards separately to utilize the wifi stuff.

    But it looks cute :P

That is gggarum! I'd ask people to get that for me… had I not already a laptop with those features built-in :P

But then again, isn't that a bit too small? It's kinda like the Shuffle 2G: small, pocketable, portable yet infinitely losable.

    Is losable even a word?

its not kinda losable! because it has to stick to your laptop! But yet, I don't think its a breakthrough! ;)
