This Week’s new Yorker cover is “Painted” on an iPhone
iPhone has changed the digital scenario upto a great extent, but I never assumed that somebody will paint a commercial painting on an iPhone!
Jorge Colombo drew this week’s New Yorker cover on his iPhone using Brushes App, while standing for an hour outside Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Times Square.
Brushes has an additional feature called Brushes viewer which allows you to replay your paintings stroke for stroke, export them at very high resolutions (up to 1920 x 2880), and even export them as QuickTime movies. Well done Jorge! and congrats BrushesApp for winning this great free advertisement through New Yorker! ;)
I would say that Jorge and ‘Brushes’ have given a new meaning to the multi-touch power of the iPhone. With a lot of options and a great control over strokes and brushes, painting industry will reach a new horizon! What can we expect next? Obviously, artists will start drawing their abstract art on their iPhones. Microsoft’s suraface is also on its way, which will overcome the limit of screen size and with unlimited multi-touch capability, we can expect painters drawing with all the 10 fingers. Isn’t it like a dream ability of a painter to hold 10 brushes simultaneously? A revolution in Painting ahead!!!
Enjoy the Brushes’ photo gallery here and see how amazing paintings are possible!
