Motorola Jumps Into the Android Game
Motorola has been been involved in the manufacturing of low end cell phones in the recent past. We have not seen any smartphone with a Motorola tag. This strategy has brought a lot of loss to the company. But the times are changing, Motorola has decided to jump into the smartphone rush through the Android OS.
Company’s Indian Co-CEO Sanjay Jha has announced that two new Android based Motorola Smartphones are due in December 2009. Talking to ZDNet, he said: “We will have two Android devices (for the holidays in the U.S.),” said Jha, adding that deals are already in place with two major carriers with more to follow. “We also have plans for more devices in the first quarter of 2010.”
Motorola’s phones Will probably be the cool smartphones but in my humble opinion, Motorola needs some really good design guys. Motorola phones are never starved of features, they in fact lack good designs and usability. The external outlook is good sometimes but when you tend to use them, you will find non standard fonts on the screen, badly arranged menus, shortcuts and complex handling.
I fear, Motorola my try to do tweaks to the open source Android OS to bring its traditional odd user interface. Come on, let the Android UI live, focus on the good hardware specifications and outer design instead.
