Mimo has improved its USB powered portable 710 monitor to the new 710-S. No no, S not for speed like iPhone 3GS, it is for the stand. Mimo 710-S Portable Monitor has got a stand that flips to cover the screen for ultra portability. The screen measures 7″ in diagonal and has 800×480 pixels resolution. Contrast ratio is improved from its predecessor. It is now 500:1. It connects via USB port and is compatible with PCs and Macs. Mac drivers are not shipped with the package but they can be downloaded from the official website.

Not high on specs as compared to common display gadgets but its portability may drive your interest. It is only for $150 and the touch screen version Mimo 740 Portable Monitor is available for $220.

Hi Owaeis, I’m looking for 2 new gadgets and would appreciate your advice. Number on is I’m looking for an external video monitor to plug into my Iphone. I figure instead of buying a Kindle or Ereader, I can use the iphone video out to a portable monitor. Every heard of something that fits this description? Does the monitor in this article (or some variant) fit this bill? Two, I’m looking for the best video eyewear under $400US. I’ve studied the Vuzix and MyVu, but can’t decide which one is best? Thanks.
