Magic Mouse with Windows 7

As you know Windows 7 has multitouch features built in. So why not use them? Don’t have a tablet or some other multitouch screen? Ok, no problem!

Let’s use Apple’s Magic mouse with Windows 7. Magic mouse is a recently launched Apple gadget. It is a multitouch mouse and gives a new meaning to interaction with computers. It is made to use with Macs only but some folks at UnEasySilence.com have managed to hack the Mac drivers to work on Windows 7 as well as Windows XP. People already have success using it on Windows 7 via bootcamp though.

All you need to do is to download the drivers from UnEasySilence, install them on Windows 7, connect the magic mouse to your PC and you are done!

Enjoy the multitouch computing!

So I have a Toshiba running Win7Pro64 w/ same problem… Out of the box it finds the mouse no problem, but no scrolling. I removed the stack but then the bluetoothinstaller.exe couldn’t find anything at all. Had to reinstall the Toshiba stack. So basically I have:

    1. The Toshiba BT stack
    2. bluetoothinstaller.exe
    3. AppleMagicMouse64.exe

So there with these 3 there must be a way I can get it!! Help!!

    Hi,
I can confim that removing Toshiba Bluetooth Drivers , and letting the Os installing Microsoft Bluetooth Drivers , will make the mouse work.

    Hi,

To get a Toshiba to work with MagicMouse scrolling, you need to uninstall the Toshiba Bluetooth stact and install the microsoft one.
    See:
    http://www.bluetoothinstaller.com/

This will only work if after uninstalling the Toshiba stack you can SEE the BT radio in Device Manager. Some Toshiba’s hide the BT radio in some ACPI hole (they probably turn it off by default) and thus it is not available to the MS Stack.

My USB bluetooth adapter is Broadcom based and does not use the Microsoft bluetooth drivers. I went to the Broadcom website and downloaded their drivers. They do not completely eliminate my Magic Mouse problems with Windows 7 but they are better than what installed automatically when I pluged the bluetooth adapter in. My mouse still freezes occasionally but after about 10 seconds, it comes back and will work properly for a while before freezing again. Here is the link to the website:

Ahhh here’s the catch, unless you have the microsoft default bluetooth drivers installed your gonna run into severe problems (driver not installing random freezes etc.
Uninstall your toshiba (or whatever bluetooth stack in win7 and guess what if your running vista or xp you better hope it’s compatible with the apple bluetooth stack or you will not be able to scroll 7 out of 10 times.
I just figured that out today
