How To: Use any Bluetooth Keyboard with iPhone 3G & 3GS

Here’s a good news folks! Now you can use any bluetooth keyboard with your iPhone 3G and 3GS with the help of iPhone keyboard driver. Unfortunately, this driver app will never get approved for the iTunes app store so you need a Jailbroken iPhone. Here’s the video demonstration of an Apple keyboard being used with the iPhone.

We’d like to see a later update of the app to hide the on-screen keyboard to bring more on-screen space. Follow our guide to configure your iPhone for it.

7. Once the keyboard is connected, choose the keyboard layout of your choice from the configuration screen which automatically appears.
8. Press the “Home” button on your iPhone to get to the apps screen.
9. Open up any application of your choice and enjoy using the external bluetooth keyboard anywhere!
10. You can see an “On” badge on the keyboard driver app which indicates that the keyboard is connected. Open the app and press “Disconnect” to turn it off.

Though you’ll be able to enjoy seemless typing across all the applications by following this giude, some features are not supported in v1.0:

1. Text selection with Shift+Arrow Keys

    Thanks for the info!
Of course, I’d love to use a wireless keyboard with my iPhone. Allowing the iPhone to accept keyboard input from an external Bluetooth keyboard will move the iPhone forward in opening new opportunities for general computing and on-the-go note taking.
