Droid owners are not provided with the multitouch browser by default but Milestone owners are. We have had a way to enable full multitouch on the Droid by installing full firmware of Milestone on Droid but most of the people don’t want to go through that hassle. We have now a more simple and better solution. You can now install Milestone’s multitouch browser on your very own Droid.

Follw our tutorial below:

Step by Step Guide to Install Milestone’s Multitouch Browser on Droid

You need a rooted Motorola Droid. If you don’t have the root, do it by following this guide.

1) Don’t forget to do a nandroid backup. Backup all the files you want to. It’d be a good idea to backup browser.apk and browser.odex so you can recover them if something goes wrong.
2) Remount / system to RW. Use  following commands on the shell:

“mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system”

3) Delete /system/app/Browser.odex
4) Download the Milestone browser from the link at bottom of this post. Unzip the files on your PC.
5)  adb push libmtwebcore.so /system/lib
6)  adb push Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk

You don’t need to worry much. Nearly everything is working fine. It should work fine with Android 2.0.1 as well as 2.1. If you have any problems or you can’t understand how to do it, let us know in the comments. I’ll ask Brent (alldroid.org founder) to reply to your queries.
