Android Apps Might Never Be Able To Meet iPhone’s Standard

The biggest strength of iPhone is its apps. Surely it has made its developers millionaires. No one has become a millionaire by developing an Android app. Does it mean that best minds in the developers’ world have not yet turned to Android? Up to some extent! But that’s not the core reason behind iTunes app store’s success over Android market.
Apple fans have a nice taste for design as well as usability. They are used to great product design and high quality software. Rather, I’d say that people having a nice design taste go for Apple products and never look back. Out of them, which choose to become developers, obviously start building over Apple’s already high level software. What happens then? Their software is not only of high quality, it is usually a masterpiece of design as well. Tweetie 2 is the best example.
On the other hand, the people who use Google products are usually concerned with the functionality and don’t care for design much. They are used to Google’s minimalist approach. Gmail has threads but is not as sleek as a carefully polished gem? No worries! Google provides the most relevant search results but has only one text box on the whole page? Who cares!
Same happened to Android. GMail, Google voice and other Google apps run better on Android than iPhone but Android is not that much polished as iPhone OS? Hardware isn’t that sleek? No worries, go buy a G1! So how can a good design, polished UI and slick software come out of a mind of a G1 fan? Even if he puts his whole life in making something like Tweetie and loving G1 at the same time, he’d always end up with a Kengrue having a monkey’s face!

I know, you are pointing to Nexus One and Droid. You think they have a better design than G1? Go compare with the iPhone 3GS!
