Apple Announcement: Here’s A Quick List Of iPhone OS 4 Features
Steve Jobs has just announced iPhone OS 4 at an event at it’s infinite loop office. iPhone OS 4 will be available on iPad this fall and summer for iPhone. Here is quick list of what we are getting:
1. Multitasking: Yes, it’s here finally. But only for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G
2. VoIP: Skype has become kinda similar to the default calling app of the iPhone.
3. Local Notifications: Like push notifications but don’t ping Apple’s servers
4. App Folders: We needed it. Now you can arrange your app shortcuts into folders. Apple’s implementation of app folders is really amazing!
5. Wallpaper: Now you can change the iPhone home screen wallpaper.
6. Enhanced Mail: Threaded conversations – like GMail and more.
7. iBooks: The smaller version of iBooks is here for the iPhone too. Yay!
8. Game Center: Kind of social gaming platform. Share score, invite friends, get game suggestions based on ability and interest.
9. iAd: Bad for you, good for developers. You are going to see more and more ads in apps. But it may also increase the number of free apps on the app store.
