Sprint HTC EVO 4G Rooted

HTC EVO 4G is not yet launched publicly but it has been rooted by some Google I/O event participants who got it free.

After the HTC EVO 4G ROM was available, I was pretty sure that some brilliant guy from the Android community will be able to root the all new rocking Android gadget long before its launch. I was so darn right. But the hackers are so very right (and intelligent and clever and whatever) than me! They didn’t bother to root the HTC EVO 4G ROM running on a different gadget, they instead did something really awesome! Rooted the real not-yet-launched HTC EVO 4G. Well, you got it right, this rooted phone is the one given away at the Google I/O event. We don’t have the root details and  a how-to guide yet. It doesn’t mean that we will not have one, but I guess, the hackers are not releasing it publicly to avoid any pre-launch anti-root patches.

There’s something interesting to note at this point. This root is not from the Android guys we usually keep on hearing hacking stuff from, like @Cyanogen. It is just a random guy who used to hack phones back in the stone age, well treo-age named Matt Mastracci. He was a participant at the Google I/O event, so got an HTC EVO 4G for free. Google surprised him with a free HTC EVO 4G and he surprised Google with a pre-launch root. Naught boy!

He just invited his old hacking friends to kill sometime. So they did it playing with the Matt‘s phone. The result was a rooted, super-user-accessible EVO 4G!
If you are going to have an HTC EVO 4G, don’t forget to check us back when you have it, for a detailed how-to guide on rooting.
