Breaking: Android 2.2 Froyo Has Been Successfully Ported To HTC Desire (Updated)
It’s not been too long since Google announced Android 2.2 a.k.a Froyo and we are already seeing it ported to various Android gadgets. First we saw the official Froyo release for the Nexus One then G1 and MyTouch 3G tasted the Froyo’s unofficial taste.
Now we have Froyo successfully ported to HTC desire. Most of the functionality is working fine including radio, wi-fi and GPS. Some things are yet to be fixed however. Like the camera which is having some memory leak issues so doesn’t work yet. Bluetooth is also not working properly for now. Previously, XDA guys were having some issues with the mic but the problem has now been solved.
Froyo is obviously blazingly fast on HTC Desire.

Froyo On HTC Desire
There’s a little left behind so it shouldn’t take a day or two at max to get fixed. If you are a Desire owner, it must be your happy moment. We’ll be back with an how-to guide as soon as XDA folks post it. Check back soon.
Update: Here comes HTC Desire on Froyo beating even Shadow. When checked on the same Quadrant Benchmark app on which Shadow was found, Desire scored 1332, just a few points behind Nexus One. That’s awesome!
