Can You Multi-Task?

Here we are with another post of the series we started yesterday – gggadgets.com’ Pick Of The Day! We are going to talk about multi-tasking today. We love multitasking on our gadgets. One of the reasons most of us would prefer Android over the pre-OS 4 iPhone. But, what about the multi-tasking in humans? Did you ever think about it? Are humans multi-taskers?

For most of us, we are not multi-taskers! Yes, that’s true! Most of the times, when you talk on the phone while driving, you lose your attention on the road. If a TV is on in your room, you cannot watch the TV and read a magazine at the same time. If your kids are playing around and interrupting you, you cannot talk to your boss on your phone. Happens to you? You are not a multi-tasker! You bloody iPad baby!

And if all that doesn’t happen to you, like you feel no problem in calling and texting while driving, can watch the TV and read a magazine at the same time, can deal your kids while talking to your boss on phone discussing an important matter. You are the one and only in your vicinity! You are a rare guy – a multi-tasker! And believe me YOU ARE NOT A WOMAN/GIRL!! No offense to ladies, you know what I mean. Women’s driving skills are a best example of single-tasking / half-tasking.

Do you know how I got the idea of writing a human multi-taksing post? Well, I found myself practicing it. I was in a hurry to a mechanics’ garage today but I was feeling hungry too. So I grabbed some snacks and got into my car. After driving (and eating) for a few minutes, my younger brother called me to ask something related to troubleshooting his netbook. I found myself in a pure multitasking mode. Eating the snacks, talking on the phone, grabbing the phone between my ear and shoulder, giving troubleshooting tips on the phone, answering my brother’s questions, dictating him command line commands and driving on a busy road. In addition to that, I didn’t let even a tiny bit of oil from my oily hands to stick to the steering wheel or the gear handle. And I parked the car in the garage following the instructions of a garage employee.

I did so many things simultaneously. I am a multi-tasker. What about you? Are you a multi-tasker? Let us know in the comments below. Let’s have an interesting discussion!
