Steve Jobs’ WWDC 2010 Keynote: Apple Renames iPhone OS 4 to iOS 4!
Steve Jobs has just announced the iPhone 4 with a lot of great features including 5 MP camera, HD video recording, front facing camera and all that we have already known!
Obviously, iPhone 4 is running Apple’s latest operating system, iPhone OS 4. Apple has a trend of naming their stuff, starting from “i”. iPhone OS 4 has already an ‘i’ in the iPhone but Apple is formally adding the OS to i’s list. Now iPhone OS 4 has been renamed ‘iOS 4′. Where are the iOSs 1- 3? Well, they were fine as iPhone OSs 1 – 3. By the way, do you know that Cisco calls its router operating system as ‘IOS’ – internet operating system! But, may be its not a registered trade mark? Even if it is, they had the ‘iPhone’ too, which apple took away. tsk tsk!
Well the iOS 4 has over 1500 developer APIs, over 100 new features for end users. Obviously multitasking tops the list.

Another thing is quite interesting. The search on the iPhone OS 4! Previosuly we had only Google and Yahoo! available as search engines now we have Bing! too! And Google is still the default contrary to what was being rumored.
You’d obviously want to look at all the features of iOS 4. We have most of them listed in this post under ‘software/features’ heading. Gizmodo has a pretty handy list of iOS 4 features along with the screen shots.
We are up for covering all thing iPhone 4 and WWDC 10, so keep checking gggadgets.com’ homepage!
