I won’t go into the Droid 2 Vs Droid Shadow discussion over here since everyone knows they are different phones by now. Droid X just got official and now it’s Droid 2′s turn.

Verizon showed off Motorola Droid 2 running Android 2.1 Eclair at an event at JPL NASA. A summer intern ‘Zack’ got a chance to play with the phone. He found that Droid 2 was really a descendant of the original Motorola Droid.
Nearly everything on Droid 2 is same as original Droid. It has got a QWERTY keyboard with some changes. The keyboard has four arrow keys, just like any real computer QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is not gold-shaded any more, it is blue-ish instead. The keyboard is a little wider and has a dedicated voice command button too.

The overall body of the phone is not black, it’s a dark colored one, chromed to shine. Screen size and overall phone dimensions appear to be the same as the Droid.

Droid 2 seems to have no major enhancement. It packs a 5 MP camera on the back. No real clue, but as per trend Droid 2 should have HD recording capability. It was being demoed with Eclair but Zack was told that the phone should be launching with Froyo. If not, it’d get the update very soon. The good news in this regard is that Motorblur/NinjaBlur are most likely to be damned to bring the real Froyo experience.
Motorola Droid 2 seen by Zack was having an 8GB of internal memory expandable by a memory card. The processor was 1GHz as told. Verizon representative told him that the Motorola Droid 2 should be out in a few weeks.
