Breaking: Android 2.1 Ported to HTC HD2 [Working Video]
A group of HTC lovers who call themselves HTC Linux have successfully managed to port Android 2.1 on HTC HD2. Previously, we didn’t have the luxury to custom root the HTC HD2 with any Android firmware of our choice but now it has been made possible.
Similar to the way when Android was ported to iPhone earlier, the team has managed to modify the code to make it compatible with the HTC HD2, and now we have the option to dual boot that device with Android 2.1 and its default Ubuntu Linux “Karmic Koala”.
The port is not very stable at the moment, you might notice few hiccups as some apps may crash and a few features might not work, but it’s still in very usable form and we hope that the next version of it would be more stable with bug fixes and some other developments.
To start the porting process now, you can visit the XDA-Developers forums and get the files you need for this process. Complete guide has been posted there on the forum.
Meanwhile, you can also checkout the video below featuring an HTC HD2 running on Android 2.1
So what are your thoughts on this? Would you be willing to hack your HTC HD2 to run Andorid 2.1 on it and experience more HTC EVO 4G like experience, or you are comfortable with what you have right now? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments.
