Breaking: Android 2.2 Froyo Successfully Ported to HTC Tattoo
Android 2.2 a.k.a Froyo has successfully been ported to HTC Tattoo. Though, there’s no official Froyo upgrade available for HTC Tattoo yet but hackers have made it possible.
One lovely dude called cn.fyodor over at XDA, has been working on Froyo port for HTC Tattoo. It took him some time but he has finally succeeded. It has been made possible by creating a custom ROM from AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Froyo and contains a lot of tweaks.
Froyo on HTC Tattoo has some features missing though. Like the SD card is not recognized, it is always shown as blank. The FM and the camera app also don’t work at the moment and the Android market app can’t correctly show all the apps. All the other stuff works just fine like the radio, wi-fi, bluetooth and the red-eye droid animation.
If you have got an HTC Tattoo in hands, you should definitely go for Froyo on it. But you’ll have to live without the camera for now. Don’t be desperate, we are pretty much hopeful for the camera app to get to the working condition soon. We will be posting a simple how-to guide to run Froyo on your HTC Tattoo, so check back in a moment.
Here’s a video demo of HTC Tattoo running Android 2.2 Froyo:
