iPad 2 Jailbreak Scene?
Well well well, you’ve got an iPad 2 in your hands and must be desperately looking for a way to jailbreak it. Unfortunately there’s some bad news for you. Go ahead and read the rest of the article below to learn more about that.
iPhone hackers have had quite a few exploits since iOS 4.0 launch which they have been using to provide us with the jailbreaking tools. Initially @comex released Jailbreakme.com to jailbreak iOS 4.0 and was followed by GeoHot who released Limra1n to jailbreak iOS 4.1. Chronic Dev Team have had their own exploit called SHAtter which they preserved and used GeoHot’s Limra1n exploit in Greenpois0n. It was a great move as releasing a jailbreaking tool with a different exlpoit as Limra1n’s was not going to help anyone but Apple. Apple could definitely patch two of the exploits in a single release. After this move of Chronic Dev Team, there was a huge hope that the next version of iOS could be jailbroken soon after the official release. But unfortunately some guy got hands on SHAtter and leaked it on the internet. All of a sudden, all the hard work by hackers drowned into the deep sea. As both SHAtter and Limra1n were leaked, they made it to Cupertino to be patched.
iH8Sn0w has confirmed that Limra1n has been patched in iOS 4.3 on iPad 2:
Limera1n Patched in iPad 2
“Confirmed: limera1n is patched in iPad 2.”
and p0sixninja clued on SHAtter being patched too:
SHAtter Exploit Patched in iOS 4.3 on iPad 2
“If in fact SHAtter has been patched, would anyone be interested in hearing us giving a full explanation at an upcoming infosec conference?”
So this is confirmed that there is no known exploit yet in the hands of hackers which could be used to jailbreak iOS 4.3 on iPad 2. Hackers will have to find a new exploit now but it would take some time. So sit back and relax till there’s a solution and leave the rest on gggadgets.com to notify you when you can jailbreak your iPad 2.
