Benchmark Tests: G2X, Atrix 4G, HTC Thunderbolt. Which Browses the Web Faster?
Browsing speed is a big deal, and with all the major carriers touting 4G and LTE, and bragging about the fastest network, one needs a little solid insight into just how fast things really are. Courtesy of Android Community, we’re presenting you some benchmark speed tests done on both the stock Android browser, and on the new version of FireFox Mobile. All of these tests are conducted on SunSpider, a browser-based JavaScript Benchmark system. They tested 3 devices:
The T-Mobile G2X on T-Mo’s [4G] network.
The HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon’s LTE Network.
The Motorola Atrix on AT&T’s HSPA+ Network.
Now, about the testing tool. SunSpider sets up a group of JavaScript tasks which show how well a device handles real world tasks. The lower the score, the better the performance. So, here’s the numbers they came up with:
ATRIX 4G
Stock: 4241.5ms
Firefox: 1842.2ms
HTC ThunderBolt
Stock: 5977.8ms
Firefox: 2685.9ms
LG G2x
Stock: 4414.9ms
Firefox: 1847.2ms
And just for fun, the HTC Sensation
Stock: 4568.0ms
So it looks as though the Atrix performed best of the 3, but the G2X was not far behind. And the thunderbolt? Not looking all that lightning fast, after all.
