How To

How To: Backup and Transfer your Angry Birds Progress

on 14 June at 10:30 am

You love your Angry Birds.  We love our Angry Birds.  But we have them on our phones and our tablets, and we hate going from one device to another and not having our progress saved.  Or maybe you flash a new ROM and pull your apps back from Google only to have to restart your Angry Birds from the beginning.  Instead of losing your weeks worth of progress, consider this simple method to backup your data or transfer it between devices.  XDA member mingkee has put together an easy process that works for Rio and Seasons, as well as the original.

Warning:

Rooting your device will void your warranty, and can cause damage.  gggadgets.com is in no way responsible for any damage you might cause.

What you Need:

  • A rooted device
  • Root Explorer from the Android Market

Step-by-Step Guide:

  • In Root Explorer: go to /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds(use corresponding names for seasons and rio)/files
  • Copy the 2 files: HighScore.lua; and Settings.lua
  • Remove your SD card safely, and transfer it to your other device.
  • Paste the files into the same folder on your new device. Make sure to rename the old files.
  • Be certain that you new change the permissions of these files in Root Explorer.  Both files must have read, write, and no execute, or it will cause a reboot.

That’s it!

Thanks again to the XDA Developer’s forum for this method, and mingkee in particular.
