iOS 5 Beta 2 Blocks GEVEY Sim Unlock

What MuscleNerd Tweeted

The so-known GEVEY Sim which allowed you to unlock your iPhone 4  on iOS4 and on the iOS5 beta 1 has now been blocked by Apple. This means that in iOS 5 you wont be able to use the GEVEY Sim unlock solution for your iPhone 4 until Appleberry (Guys who make the GEVEY sim’s) come out with a new and updated version. MuscleNerd, who yesterday tweeted that the jailbreak using redsn0w still works on Beta 2,said:

it’s surprising Apple closed Gevey interposer hole in b2 rather than waiting until final (maybe they were under pressure)

This means that Apple have closed the hole which allowed the GEVEY sim to unlock the iPhone 4 and therefore the current GEVEY sim will only work wil iOS 5 Beta 1 and below. We must wait and see what will happen to this GEVEY sim in iOS 5. Will The company get out a new, updated version? Also note that MuslcleNerd also said that Apple didn’t close the Ultrasn0w unlock hole , does this mean a software unlock will be coming soon? We dont know what going to happen to the future of the iPhone unlock but all we must do is sit down and relax until a new unlock solution comes out.

There is no “ultrasnow unlick hole”. If you preserved your baseband, you can keep using Ultrasn0w to unlock. If you’re stup1d and restore to stock firmware, say bye bye to unlock.
On the other hand, Pwned4Life hole can’t be patched by Apple, that’s why Redsn0w will allow jailbreak in beta 2, hopefully forever.

If you preserve iOS 4.3 or beta 1 baseband, you’ll be good to go.
