A report in Chinese Times today alleges that the iPhone 5 will be launching in the second week of September, between the 6th and 15th.  This falls in line with an earlier rumor that put the release at September 7th, but we’d like to stress “rumor” here.  An initial test batch of 400,000 units is currently in production, while another 4 million units are on order for the expected launch.  In the same report the Chinese Times claims that, due to component shortages, the expected iPad 3/iPad HD will launch later, likely during the Thanksgiving holiday season.  If that’s true, then it could be a Black Friday deal that could have huge repercussions on local retailers.

The new iPhone would feature an upgraded processor, most likely the A6, as well as improved cameras and the new version of Apple’s iOS 5 operating system.  The iPad 3 or iPad HD, it’s tough to tell which it will be at this point, is reported to have a new display technology and will be geared more toward high-end users in the photo and video editing business.
