An interesting find by BGR seems to indicate that the first real quad core tablet may be due to his the market on November 7th, less than a month away. We saw a tablet a few weeks ago claiming to run NVIDIA’s Kal-El quad core processor, but the astonishingly bad benchmark tests made us doubt the claim. ASUS, by comparison had a smash hit in the first Transformer tablet, and we’re eager to see if they can do it again. However, the big seller on the Transformer Gen1 was its very affordable price tag of $399. This tablet, should the price hold true, will be almost double that price. The Transformer 2, listed above on LambdaTek Component Shop, is a teeth-gritting £537.85 including VAT. That’s about $739.77 USD, a 4o% increase over the anticipated retail price suggested by CEO Jerry Shen, who indicated a $499 price tag when speaking to Digitimes.
Specs for the Transformer 2 include a Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA, 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch display and Android 3.2 Honeycomb. It is listed with a November 7th in-stock date. That would put it ahead of the big wave of holiday shopping in the US, though. Hopefully, that price will come down by then.
