New Macbook Air
Japanese tech site Macotakara claims that Apple’s MacBook line may be getting a new addition. According to the report, a 15″ ultra-thin MacBook is in the works, to supplement the current 11″ and 13″ offerings. Whether this device will be a new entry in the MacBook Air line, or a new version of the MacBook Pro is still uncertain. TUAW, a reputed Apple tech site has suggested that it would likely be a new addition to the MacBook Pro line, to which MacRumors seemed to agree earlier this year.
Super-thin Ultrabooks from companies like ASUS have been a big hit this year, offering very light weights and stylish designs reminiscent of the MacBook Air. A number of 11″ and 13″ ulrabook designs have recently come to market, but few that edge into the 15″ and 17″ range. The closest thus far is Dell’s Latitude Z, which has a 16″ screen. A 15″ MacBook Air/Pro could release next year with IBM’s new Ivy Bridge processor design, which supports USB 3.0 and OpenCL compliance for gaming and multimedia.
