Galaxy Nexus

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus is the hottest piece of tech in recent weeks. We recently went hands-on with this dual core, Ice Cream Sandwich-packing beast of a phone, and we suspect that if you’re reading this you probably have one in your hand as well. We’ve already published a couple of ways to unlock and root this device so you can start getting full control. This method, though, is by far the most straightforward and easiest. No messing with command lines, no complicated commands. Just download, and click. However, this is a Windows only download. Sorry Mac users. Borrow a Windows friend’s PC. Also, drop by GalaxyNexusForums and say Thanks to developer WugFresh for devising this super-simple method.

Note:

This method is for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and does not support the GSM variant.

Before you Begin:

Download the Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit from any of these 3 mirrors. [1][2][3]

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Once you’ve downloaded the package, extract its contents.
  2. Click on the Drivers + SDK to install the latest drivers, and the ADB files necessary for root and unlock.
  3. Connect your device via USB.
  4. Click Unlock+Root and let it work. This will unlock the bootloader, root the device, install SuperUser and Clockwork Recovery.
