Just a day after its release, the New iPad’s untethered jailbreak is already up and running. At least, in tests. Well-known iOS hackster i0nic has been working through the night to get this jailbreak up and running. This is a big departure from last year’s iPad 2, which took several months to see an untethered jailbreak via Comex‘ jailbreakme.com method. Having had access to iOS 5.1 betas for a couple of months, though, has made the quick work possible. Now, i0nic and the iPhone Dev Team have posted a video on YouTube of the jailbreak running on the New iPad, as well as screen shots of the device running Cydia.
Currently, there’s no date as to when you can expect the release, but this new info shows that it is indeed coming. Currently, there is no tethered or untethered jailbreak for the New iPad, though if you own any A4 iDevice, such as the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch, or iPad 1, you can jailbreak tethered using either Redsnow or Snowbreeze. Naturally, we’ll keep you posted on further developments as they come.
