We have been hearing a lot about HP’s tablet PC. We believe it to be an alternative to the iPad because of it’s better specs. Since it’s a Windows 7 tablet, it can definitely run Flash – a great plus over iPad.

Conecti.ca seems to have a unit of HP’s slate. They have posted the hands on pictures and a mini review. Although, they do not seem satisfied, I am not feeling any bad about the HP slate. I still believe, it’s beautiful. Provided the smartness of HP TouchSmart, I don’t think that the HP Slate would be clunky and laggy. Obviously, if you put a lot of stress on a CPU provided the multitasking is supported in full swing – you’d slow down any high profile computer.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you must already know that the iPad – apple’s latest innovation – was launched on January 9th, changing once again the computing industry game. While HP’s Slate, a Windows 7 based Tablet, is expected to be the ultimate iPad killer, HP is still struggling with the price : a $549 vs Apple’s $499. Microsoft Surface’ finger+stylus concept is something appealing. I know that the whole concept isn’t new, but it strikes me how much potential these new gadgets have shown. Does this really mean that the future is Touch? Are we moving into a minority report kind of world? I’m still a little skeptical though when I hear people like Marc Benioff say:

“The future of our industry now looks totally different than the past… It’s not about typing or clicking; it’s about touching.”

I stick with Tim Bray when he says:

“We haven’t learned yet where touch wins and where it doesn’t.”

Some heavy Geeks even think it’s a step backwards. I wouldn’t go that far but I really think it’s a bit too early to dub the Touch as the future of computing. Maybe it’s one of those things…

“we didn’t know we needed… but suddenly can’t live without.” - John Doerr.

I guess All we have to do is wait and see… So what do you think? Do you really believe you can use these gadgets beyond casual surfing? While this toddler is feeling pretty easy with them.

You definitely need it. It has got Android after all! A ‘resistive’ touch screen is a topping on the ice. What else do you need? A camera? Well, you get a 1.3MP. Wifi? You get it! Memory slot? You’ve it!

Ah well, you wanted the ‘superphone’? Robot has got a Samsung 2448 400Mhz processor so why not call it a ‘superphone’? We need not name it, it is already a superphone – “The Robot Superphone”!

It comes all the way from China and all the desperate geeks are so much passionate about it!

Leave a comment below to tell whether you’ll buy ‘The Robot Superphone’?

a. I’ll not buy it
b. I’ll definitely not buy it
c. I’ll never buy it

By the way, I never thought I’d ever categorize an Android phone (in fact a superphone) as a CrapGadget.

Nokia World 09 conference is going on in Germany. As expected, Nokia is coming up with cool new gadgets. I don’t know why was the Booklet 3G announced a few days before the NW09 and not at the event. However, the most exciting gadget announced so far is the Nokia X6. It is the Nokia phone that has only an on-screen keyboard and no physical QWERTY keyboard.

X6 is compact and slick. The 3.2″ touch screen and 5 megapixel camera are the main features. It is focused to entertainment and social networking. There is a 32 GB built in memory and 35 hours of audio playback. But as always, Nokia is best at leaving deficiencies in its phones. You are not provided with the memory card slot, not because you don’t need it, just because you should need another Nokia phone to achieve this functionality. That new phone will obviously lack some other functionality and you’ll keep on switching to new Nokia phones and Nokia will keep on making money.

Camera has however an LED flash light and the browser is good enough to have the Flash lite support. The home screen can keep the icons for 12 of your friends and when you click through the icons, you’ll find complete social networking and contact information about them. Nokia X6 has a buit in A-GPS as well.

One interesting thing is that you can download music from Ovi but you’ll not have to pay for the tracks. Strange eh? Will Nokia let you pirate the tracks and download them illegally or all the tracks have already been paid by Nokia for unlimited downloading? Obviously, either of them doesn’t seem to be the case. What are you going to do then, Nokia?

So, here we have come up with some exclusive shots of the phone which is just announced. via MserdarK and RafeB

There were few rumors of MSI’s touch screen netbook which are now officially confirmed by MSI. The company is finally getting into the touchscreen gadgets with the release of MSI U150 netbook. It is announced to have Intel’s Pine Trail processor which is in fact the enhanced atom. May be because of the price concerns, it will have a resistive touchscreen instead of capacitive one. Windows 7 is the announced operating system which already has the touch screen capabilities. No further details are available yet but it will obviously be an ASUS T91 rival. ASUS has developed its own interface over Windows XP to meet the touch screen requirements. T91 features an atom processor.

If you watch this video of ASUS T91, you’ll find it a really cool gadget, MSI will have to bring something better if it has to take over the market.
